It was a proud moment for India’s leading batsman Sachin Tendulkar when his 11 year old son Arjun Tendulkar came to net practice with the Indian cricket team. No it didn’t happen yesterday. As a matter of fact, the net practice session took place in January of this year when India was gearing up for their third test match against South Africa in Cape Town.
The recent World Cup 2011 win for India and Sachin’s historical victory lap round Wankhede stadium in Mumbai with his children Arjun and Sara Tendulkar have made us resurface this hidden story to the public eye.
It was one of those rare times when a legendary batsman child is seen practicing with Team India. And it was after all Sachin Tendulkar, one of the leading icons of India as well the world whose son was batting at the net facing some of the best talent of the country!
It was overwhelming to see Arjun batting on crease and his father Sachin bowling. It would have been quite a delight to watch both father son duo on the same field for an international match. But Sachin will soon retire in a couple of years and Arjun Tendulkar still has many years to officially join the team!
Incidentally, Arjun is also a part time spinner just like spinner. He even bowled to Indian paceman S Sreesanth. Also, in the batting line was Virender Sehwag with whom Arjun played a couple of balls.
Future looks promising for this prodigal Tendulkar Junior. After all, it is not every day that you get a chance to attend a net practice session with Team India!

It was a jubilant crowd that witnessed history in making on April 2nd 2011 at Mumbai’s now legendary Wankhede stadium. It was India’s moment to rise and shine at the very top of the world. After all, the Indian cricket team has just won the coveted world cup after 28 years! The moment indeed was a big one. What made it more big for India’s star player Sachin Tendulkar was the presence of his 12 year old son Arjun Tendulkar in the stands cheering for him just like the whole nation!
Sachin Tendulkar, also known as master blaster and currently world’s number one batsman had a lot going on for him that day. Firstly, it would probably be the last world cup for this 37 year old super batsman of India. Secondly, India had a chance of winning the world cup after the fateful win back in 1983. And lastly if he got the chance, Sachin could have made his 100th International Century!
Inspite of the whole India cheering for his favorite cricketer, Sachin might have felt pressure on his strong shoulders. But what eased it a bit was an energetic screaming and cheering coming from the stands of the stadium by none other than his son Arjun Tendulkar.
Junior Tendulkar who recently made his debut in U-13 Cadet Trophy had put on the Indian jersey and was seen boosting his dad’s morale up along with the crowd. TV cameras captured the moment perfectly well and screened it round the stadium which managed to even get Sachin to smile despite of all the high tension drama enfolding on the field!
Luckily, India did manage to secure a world cup win after a span of 28 years and Sachin Tendulkar’s dream of winning the world cup on Indian soil was fulfilled! He couldn’t make his 100th century that day which could have made the day even more historical. But that small glitch was soon smoothened with the presence of both his kids Arjun Tendulkar and Sara Tendulkar besides him during the victory lap. In fact the whole team took it upon themselves to not let Sachin touch his feet on the grounds. He was carried round their shoulder the whole time throughout.
This world cup victory was dedicated to Sachin Tendulkar’s dream, a gift from his fellow teammates. The moment was made more special with Sachin’s prodigal son Arjun Tendulkar expected to achieve similar heights in international cricket someday!

Sara Tendulkar and Arjun Tendulkar, the rising star kids of Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar have showcased their affection and immense pride in their father’s achievements in the international cricketing world. As a matter of fact, it has been witnessed at numerous times in public how much the kids dote on their father Sachin.
Whether it is the various cricket matches being attended by son Arjun Tendulkar [ who recently made his cricketing debut in January 2010] or it is the social welfare events organized by daughter Sara Tendulkar [ she decided to spend her birthday with slum kids]. There are various such instances where one can see the kids alighted with their father’s presence.
The Tendulkars have never shied away from showcasing their bond of togetherness and mutual admiration for each other in the public eye. When Sachin completed his 20 years in international cricket then his kids sent him gifts for celebrating the occasion. His daughter Sara gifted him with a painting while his Arjun sent him personally made greeting cards. This was all sent through their mother and Sachin’s wife Anjali Tendulkar who went to pay her husband a visit in Ahmedabad.
When Sara took part in the 7th Standard Chartered Marathon in Mumbai last year, Sachin gave her a sound advice to focus and run. Sara who became the highest Dream Maker by raising a larger amount of funds for her grandmother’s NGO was elated to hear her father’s praise on this occasion!
Must say Sachin is a family man who is equally supported by his loving wife and adoring ki

Everyone who knows the Tendulkars was taken in by surprise by last year when the oldest of the junior Tendulkar kids became the first news maker of the year 2010. Yes, it was Sara Tendulkar who came into limelight and not her father Sachin when the headstrong girl participated in the 7th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on January 12 2010 under Dream Run Category.
Apparently Sara Tendulkar the beloved daughter of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar took part in the marathon for a noble cause. She was there to raise funds for her grandmother and Sachin Tendulkar’s mother in law Annabel Mehta’s NGO called Apnalaya.
According to her mother Anjali and grandmother Annabel, Sara was really moved by the emotional environment there at the marathon. Also, she was really taken in by surprise by all the mayhem and fervor present amongst the participants at the event. She was enthusiastic throughout the marathon and even clicked pictures with the fellow participants.
Not surprisingly she managed to raise rupees 5.88 lakhs for Apnalaya a figure which managed to won her the award of the youngest Dream Maker of the marathon. She was ecstatic to achieve the award and do something for her grandmother’s NGO.
This is not the first instant when Sara has shown concern for social causes. In the year 2009 on her 11th birthday on 12th October, she told her parents to spend her birthday with the underprivileged kids of slum Govandi in Mumbai and even shared her goodies with them. This took Sachin by pleasant surprise and moved him dearly.
For the upcoming 2011 Marathon, Sara earlier reported that she undergoes training for this type f marathon. Sara Tendulkar is the eldest daughter of cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar and Anjali Tendulkar and has a kid brother Arjun Tendulkar who is following in his father’s footsteps!

Everyone today speak highly of Sachin Tendulkar and what a living legend he has become in the world of international cricket. This Indian batsman has taken the cricketing world with storm so much that he gave sleepless nights to many acclaimed bowlers including Australian spinner Shane Warne.
But imagine what would have happened if Sachin wasn’t given a chance to showcase his performance in front of the professionals. Then the world would have surely lost out on an international icon. This is where Ajit Tendulkar, elder brother of Sachin and his coach came in.
Ajit Tendulkar has always been the driving force in Sachin’s life. He was the one who polished and honed the talent of Sachin. He had always been fascinated by the game of cricket. Since childhood he was in love with cricket. He played throughout his schooling and college period as a captain.
Eventually though he gave up his own aspirations and dreams to pursue is a career in cricket for his younger brother Sachin who by then had started showcasing his gift of bat.
Ajit recognized his brother’s talent during they stay in Sahitya Sahawas colony where they both used to play cricket with other children. Soon Ajit took it upon himself to guide and coach Sachin so as to get him ready for international cricket.
Soon Sunil Gavasakar too spotted Sachin and brought him forward to the world of cricket. But much of the thanks should go to Ajit for his rigorous training and endless coaching.
Ajit also wrote a book on Sachin called The Making of Cricketer. Today he feels proud to see his brother’s fame and status in the world. He is an icon in himself.
With junior Tendulkar i.e. Arjun Tendulkar also showing his inclination towards cricket recently who know uncle Ajit might don up the hat of coach once again to train his beloved nephew!

“I first met him at the Mumbai airport when he returned from his first tour of England in 1990, after scoring his maiden Test ton. In fact, when I first saw him at the airport, I didn’t even know who he was. It was purely by accident!”
In a candid interview Anjali Tendulkar admitted of not recognizing the maestro batsman Sachin Tendulkar when they met for the first time.
Anjali had gone to the airport to meet her mom while Sachin was travelling with the Indian cricket team. It was there that the couple saw each other for the first time whereupon Anjali failed to place him at all on account of her zero knowledge of cricket.
Soon after the couple began dating and Anjali started stocking up on cricket magazines for increasing her GK. Though Sachin never liked to discuss cricket at home she confessed later.
Recalling their courtship days, Anjali Tendulkar narrated an incident wherein Sachin went for movie Roza with her under a disguise wearing a beard and specs. It was on account of Sachin’s rising popularity that they could not move freely in public. However, their love met its final destination in 1995 when they tied the knot after 5 years of courtship period.
She promptly gave up her medical career to provide ample support to Sachin’s flourishing career. With him being busy all the time with his international tours, Anjali needed to be home for the couple’s two kids. As a matter of fact, it is because of their excellent parenting that Arjun Tendulkar their son is speedily improving his cricketing skills!
Anjali confessed it’s a tough job to be the wife of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar but both the kids and she have made peace with it and live their life happily together!

It happens on very rare occasions that a fate of a child is decided even before he is born. As a matter of fact, it is a boon as well as a sin for the child to follow in the footsteps of his famous celebrity parents. The child in question here is Arjun Tendulkar, the prodigy son of famous maestro batsman Sachin Tendulkar. Like every other family, he is also expected to follow in the footsteps of his father and carry the legacy forward. It is a trend being followed since many decades. It is not restricted to just the field of sports as a matter of fact. You will find children of superstars, corporate giants and other big wigs expected to walk on the path paved by their parents.
Arjun Tendulkar at the mere age of 10 is experiencing tremendous pressure on his small shoulders whenever he lifts up the bat, no matter if it just to swat a fly! The point is as the son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar he is expected to pursue cricket as his future career and supposedly become a legend like his father himself. It is quite true that you might share the same interests and talent as your parents. But it has also been proved time and again that success of one generation doesn’t always have to be repeated by the succeeding generation. You can look at the example of previous Indian Cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar and the mediocre success tasted by his son Rohan Gavaskar.
The pressure is thus immense on Arjun to outshine his father even when he has shown inkling for cricket since his toddler years. One could find him yelling at the top of his lungs for his father during a match! Recently Arjun Tendulkar made headlines in January when he made his cricketing debut at the U-13 Cadency Trophy from MIGC Club in Pune. Although his team lost the cup, the kid showed the same spirit as witnessed in his father Sachin Tendulkar. On Sachin’s part one can observe that although he might have a desire to see his son follow his path, he doesn’t want to put pressure on the child so soon. Arjun has shown equal interest in Badminton sports as well and he gets regular coaching for cricket along with badminton at the behest of his father.
The future expands large in front of both father and son duo and it is only a matter of time when Arjun Tendulkar will face the real world to battle it out for his sake as well as his father’s sake!
