“I first met him at the Mumbai airport when he returned from his first tour of England in 1990, after scoring his maiden Test ton. In fact, when I first saw him at the airport, I didn’t even know who he was. It was purely by accident!”

In a candid interview Anjali Tendulkar admitted of not recognizing the maestro batsman Sachin Tendulkar when they met for the first time.

Anjali had gone to the airport to meet her mom while Sachin was travelling with the Indian cricket team. It was there that the couple saw each other for the first time whereupon Anjali failed to place him at all on account of her zero knowledge of cricket.

Soon after the couple began dating and Anjali started stocking up on cricket magazines for increasing her GK. Though Sachin never liked to discuss cricket at home she confessed later.

Recalling their courtship days, Anjali Tendulkar narrated an incident wherein Sachin went for movie Roza with her under a disguise wearing a beard and specs. It was on account of Sachin’s rising popularity that they could not move freely in public. However, their love met its final destination in 1995 when they tied the knot after 5 years of courtship period.

She promptly gave up her medical career to provide ample support to Sachin’s flourishing career. With him being busy all the time with his international tours, Anjali needed to be home for the couple’s two kids. As a matter of fact, it is because of their excellent parenting that Arjun Tendulkar their son is speedily improving his cricketing skills!

Anjali confessed it’s a tough job to be the wife of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar but both the kids and she have made peace with it and live their life happily together!

Arjun Tendulkar at the mere age of 10 is experiencing tremendous pressure on his small shoulders whenever he lifts up the bat, no matter if it just to swat a fly! The point is as the son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar he is expected to pursue cricket as his future career and supposedly become a legend like his father himself. It is quite true that you might share the same interests and talent as your parents. But it has also been proved time and again that success of one generation doesn’t always have to be repeated by the succeeding generation. You can look at the example of previous Indian Cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar and the mediocre success tasted by his son Rohan Gavaskar.

The pressure is thus immense on Arjun to outshine his father even when he has shown inkling for cricket since his toddler years. One could find him yelling at the top of his lungs for his father during a match! Recently Arjun Tendulkar made headlines in January when he made his cricketing debut at the U-13 Cadency Trophy from MIGC Club in Pune. Although his team lost the cup, the kid showed the same spirit as witnessed in his father Sachin Tendulkar. On Sachin’s part one can observe that although he might have a desire to see his son follow his path, he doesn’t want to put pressure on the child so soon. Arjun has shown equal interest in Badminton sports as well and he gets regular coaching for cricket along with badminton at the behest of his father.

The future expands large in front of both father and son duo and it is only a matter of time when Arjun Tendulkar will face the real world to battle it out for his sake as well as his father’s sake!

Anjali Tendulkar (formerly Anjali Mehta) is the wife of the Indian cricket star Sachin

Tendulkar. She is mother of Sara Tendulkar and Arjun Tendulkar.

Anjali Tendulkar was born on 10th November 1967. She is the daugher of the Gujrati industrialist Anand Mehta. Her mother is of British origin. Anjali is a practising paediatrician and works at the JJ Hospital in Mumbai. She is ideal modern woman, stiking a fine balance between her professional life and being a perfect wife to Sachin and their two childred, Arjun and Sara.

Anjali Tendulkar prefers to maintain a low profile and avoids interviews with any journalists. It is on very rare occassions that we have heard some comments from Anjali Tendulkar, about Sachin or cricket or her personal life. Anjali and Sachin

met through common friends and fell head over heels for each other before they finally decided to get married.

Nervous about Sachin’s performance when he is playing, Anjali prefers to watch the recording of his matches instead. Infact it is now very easy to be the wife of the master blaster. Anjali hardly gets to spend any time with Sachin

as he is traveling most of the time. However Anjali and Sachin Tendulkar share a wonderful relationship.

She once said “He hasn’t spent Diwali at home since we got married. But it really doesn’t matter that it’s Diwali… any time he spends at home is great!”

Sachin Tendulkars Family

Anjali Tendulkar was married to Sachin Tendulkar, son of Ramesh Tendulkar on 1995. Sachin Tendulkar’s first child Sarah (Arjun Tendulkar’s sister) was born on 12th October 1997 is two years elder than her brother Arjun Tendulkar. Arjun is fond of playing tennis and often tries his hand on cricket bat too.

Sachin Tendulkar wants his son to be a good cricketer and play for India like him. To fulfill his dream he arranged a cricket coaching club for him, at a small age of 8 yrs, where he goes along with his dad.

He often joins his father Sachin Tendulkar to some cricket functions/ award ceremonies. Sachin and his family were present in Mumbai when Sachin’s wax statue was unveiled on 14^th April 2009.

He often goes to the stadium to watch his dad playing an international match. He is often seen enthusiastically cheering his dad on the field!

Greg Chappell, who was in Mumbai to launch a cricket coaching scheme for young cricketers, met the 5 year old Sachin’s son.

“Oh, is it Sachin’s son?” said Chappell. “Hey, little guy. What’s your name?”

The little guy, looking a little puzzled at the media crowd together and the 56-year-old stranger, spoke after some time, “Arjun.”

“Andrew?” asked a quite confused-sounding Chappell.

More confusion from Tendulkar junior’s end.

“Oh… Arjun,” Chappell corrected himself after some prompting.

Arjun then sat down with Chappell. “He has some queries for you,” someone told Chappell.

“Oh I don’t think he needs to answer me for his queries. He has the best batsman to get his answers,” answered Chappell at Arjun’s obviously confused stare.

Chappell asked, “So, do you bowl or bat like your dad?”

“Both.”

“Oh yes, you do? What’s your highest score? Maximum runs you’ve scored?”

Arjun replied . “Eight.”

“That’s fine. That’s good for a five-year-old. How did you score that 8? You hit boundaries or singles?”

“Fours,” Arjun answered quickly.

“And what is your favourite shot? The square cut, the pull and the cover drive?”

Things were getting technical for the people in the room, let alone a five-year-old who had yet to come to terms with the Australian accent.

“Six,” was Arjun’s monosyllabic answer.

“Okay, so it doesn’t matter how long you hit a six. Good!”

The media persons were taking too long to appear and Chappell and Arjun were running out of topics of chat, they decided it was time to say goodbye.

“He is a sharp guy, thinks much before speaking,” said Chappell. He then recalled that the first certified game of any sorts that he had played was at the age of 10.
